What a Series A rebrand should include, and when to start

Series A is when many startups rebrand. There’s budget, more people are looking at you, and the seed-stage brand was built in a hurry. The median Series A round reached $19.4 million in 2026 (PitchBook-NVCA Venture Monitor), so the money is usually there. Here’s what to include, when to start, and what to keep.

When to start

  • Right after the raise is a good window. One VC firm’s guide calls the period after Series A and before heavy ad spend the safest time, while the brand has little equity to lose (Breega).
  • Not during a raise. Changing your brand while term sheets are circulating is risky, and finishing 90 to 120 days before investor outreach is safer (RNO1).
  • Set the scope first. The same Breega guide warns that a rebrand can take over 70% of a leader’s time once it starts.

What it should include

  1. Positioning and messaging: who you’re for, what you do and why you win, in plain words.
  2. A name check: keep your name unless it’s confusing, taken or limiting.
  3. Identity: logo, mark, type and color, built as a system.
  4. Product alignment: the app should look like the brand, starting with the key screens.
  5. Website: launch the site with the brand, because a new brand on an old site sends mixed signals (LowCode Agency).
  6. Sales and investor materials: deck, one-pager and proposal templates.
  7. Brand rules for AI tools: so your team’s AI-made work stays on brand (An AI-ready brand).
  8. A rollout plan: what changes on launch day, and what changes later.

What to keep

Keep what people already recognize and what still works. That’s often the name, and sometimes a color or the idea behind the mark. The goal is to look like the company you’ve become while keeping what people already know.

What it costs

Agency pricing guides put Series A brand work anywhere from about $15,000 to well over $100,000, depending on scope and who does it (Toimi, Fello). The biggest cost drivers are research, the number of products and the size of the rollout.

A realistic timeline

  • Weeks 1 to 2: positioning and identity.
  • Weeks 3 to 6: website, key product screens and templates.
  • Week 7 onward: rollout, with a list of everything that still needs updating.

How we do it
